Are you getting the correct amount for your time on site?

Here’s a breakdown illustrating the difference in hourly rate you would expect to see from the most general areas of employment within the construction industry.

This diagram shows the annual wage rate updated in 2012, We can see from the graph that on average the Senior Quantity surveyor can expect to charge a fee of just over £45,000 per annum, Just leading in front of the Construction project manager with again £45,000 expected per year, these figures represent gross income.

Hourly Rate

Here’s some facts and figures from the hourly rate expected, this will be of interest especially for those on contract basis, on weekly or monthly this shows – as you may expect the construction laborer as the lowest rate at £7 per hour, this comes in at half the rate of the site Foreman at £14 per hour and interesting the Electrician  £1 below at £13 per hour. It shows that placing extra emphasis on Bricklaying skills can really up your rate at a very solid £10.

Male Dominated

The Plant hire and Construction industry is still very much Male dominated, there are many opportunities for women and the number of Woman starting training courses has grown since the turn of the century, so this current one sided balance should even out a little in the next 10 years, we would hope.

1000 backhoe loaders will be supplied to the Brazilian government to provide muscle to the build of infrastructure and roads throughout Brazil. They will also help in the construction of thousands of miles of secondary roads where access had previously been tricky or hazardous for example in farming rural areas of this huge country.

The deal is worth 60 million pounds to JCB, which will help this Dynamic company ho from strength to strength.
